Childcare and TrustLine Notice

Childcare support is open during the pilot only for children 5 and older, posted by the child's parent or guardian, with that parent or guardian home the whole time. The poster must review whether the teen is suitable for the actual children, duties, ages, length of time, emergency contacts, allergies and supervision, and any licensing or other requirements. Do not publish children's names, schedules, medical details or photos in a listing. TaskTeens does not claim that ordinary teen childcare help is licensed, exempt or legally cleared.

TrustLine notice

Trustline is California's official background check for license-exempt child care providers (i.e. babysitters and nannies) and the only authorized screening program in California with access to fingerprint records at the California Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation and access to the California Child Abuse Central Index. The Trustline registry toll-free telephone number is 1–800–822–8490.

TaskTeens serves teens ages 14–17. California Department of Social Services TrustLine materials state that applicants must be at least 18, so teens in this program cannot obtain TrustLine registration. A missing TrustLine registration is not evidence of misconduct by an individual teen. TaskTeens has not performed a TrustLine check on any teen. Guardian approval and contact confirmation are not a criminal-background clearance or a guarantee of safety.

Private childcare details

The poster, teen and teen's parent should privately agree the number and ages of the children, the actual care duties, the length of time, the responsible parent's contact, an emergency contact, any necessary allergy or emergency information, supervision and travel. We suggest — but do not require — putting this in a short written agreement signed by the poster, the teen and the teen's parent. Share only necessary details with the people involved.
